DESCRIPTION:Creative Circle is a monthly gathering to play with creativity! Each craft is inspired by the colors\, shapes\, textures\, properties and symbolism of a chosen flower or plant.  \nCalendula \nSeeds that were sown months prior have blossomed into abundant nourishment for body and mind. Calendula\, commonly known as Marigold\, has long been used as a companion in vegetable gardens – an edible flower that loves the sun and grows abundantly. What better way to embrace summer’s harvest than to delight in its fruitful (& food-full) rewards? Join us to decorate a tote bag (for the farmer’s market\, groceries\, a library haul or whatever you so choose)! Just as the brightly colored calendula flowers attract the bees and butterflies\, appliqué with colorful fabric scraps\, sew designs with visible thread\, or paint on fabric to colorfully adorn and personalize your bag.  \nAll materials provided.  \nWhen: Sunday\, August 11\, 2:00-3:30pm  \nWhere: The Center at 8 Branches \nCapacity: 12 \nPayment: sliding scale $10-20. Registration closes 24 hrs prior to the session or until the max capacity is reached. Tickets cannot be reimbursed after the registration deadline unless the event gets cancelled by the host. \n\n We look forward to seeing you! \n  \nAbout the workshop facilitator:  \nEmily Downes is a Milwaukee-based artist whose creative practice involves multimedia modes of making\, including video\, animation\, photography\, music\, painting\, sewing and puppetry. Her creations are deeply rooted in the personal and inspired by her curiosity in symbols and synchronicities that arise in places\, conversations\, memories\, and dreams. Fascinated by the art and universality of storytelling\, she engages in the notion that broader connections can be made from sharing personal experiences. For Emily\, making art comes full circle when engaged with community\, as she is most passionate for sharing her talents with all ages while collaborating with local artists to build a strong and vibrant community.
