Music in Wellness Series ~ Music as Medicine: Relaxation
Chances are you are already using music in your own life to relax, get hyped up for an event, exercise, celebrate, or even focus or reflect. Using music and sound is as natural for us as breathing – an experience that can be deeply personal or collectively unifying. Something so ‘simple’ that it is often overlooked as a powerful therapeutic resource.
Join Abby, board-certified music therapist and owner of Resonant Heart, for an introduction into the use of music and sound as a therapeutic resource for effective relaxation in our world of stress and high anxiety. In this session we will learn about musical elements that assist relaxation and how to use them in your own daily life, the power of preference, live versus recorded music, and resources for conscious listening – ending the session with a gentle live sound bath offering. No musical experience necessary – come as you are and leave with new ideas and resources.
We will be lying or sitting on the floor for a portion of the session, and have a limited amount of blankets and mats. Please feel free to bring whatever will help you feel most comfortable (mats, blankets, pillows, etc.). Chairs and a few foam mats are available for those who seek extra support – if you prefer a different accommodation please reach out to me directly at resonant.heart.mke@gmail.com and I will be happy to work with you to create the most comfortable option possible.
Contribution: Tickets are $45 and are limited to 12 group members.
